Natural modern interior. Art Nouveau interior
Many people, when they hear about the art nouveau style, imagine modern interior designs. It is not surprising, because it logically follows from the name. But in fact, the art nouveau style has nothing to do with modern trends in design or architecture. This style originated at the turn of the 2 centuries, gained the peak of popularity 100 years ago, but is still relevant. Now the main characteristics of Art Nouveau are almost classic: the absence of straight lines, natural materials, and functionality of furniture.
Let's look at the material base. Art Nouveau is a natural design, so the emphasis here is on naturalness. The style is based on wood, especially oak. Oak tables, art nouveau stairs, cabinets, chairs, wall panels - the material is practical and multifunctional. It is also important to emphasize the texture of real wood in furniture. Metal is also often used, namely forged products, glass - especially colored stained glass windows, and textiles. In fact, glass elements are a feature of the style, they are used in the sashes of cabinets and handrails of stairs. As for Textiles, it is important that the furniture is covered not with leather or dermatin, but with natural fabrics.
Like any style, art nouveau has its own color scheme. One shade necessarily prevails, and several more complement it. The main condition is no bright colors. The main shade can be beige, brown, peach, light shades of blue, and green. It is better not to use white, but to give preference to milk or ivory. Additional colors can be any calm shades, such as silver, bronze, burgundy, olive. The main thing is not to overdo it and use these shades specifically for accents, that is, in small details. And give up black.
Lighting is also an important point because you need to successfully combine natural and artificial light. You need to give the room enough light, but make sure that it is not too bright. Give preference to hanging chandeliers, small and with subdued light. You can add more lighting to the room with table lamps and floor lamps, the main thing is that there are no straight lines or corners. It is desirable that the rooms are fully illuminated by sunlight during the day. As for other furniture, try to leave a lot of space. Give preference to functional furniture and, of course, without straight lines. The best will be built-in wardrobes made of real wood in natural color. Wooden stairs in the art nouveau style, also in natural color, will be appropriate, on the railing you can give free rein to your imagination and add interesting glass or metal elements. It is better to take a basic table with a natural edge. For furniture upholstery, use cotton, chenille, velour, or Azur. Classic art nouveau conditions include high chair legs and sofas with bentwood armrests.
In art nouveau, figurines, murals, stained glass windows, pillows, and mirrors look appropriate. When using figurines, you can give free rein to your imagination, but take a closer look at the theme of flora and fauna. Regarding the painting, it is appropriate to use floral elements or just smooth and elegant lines. There are not many stained glass windows in art nouveau, they will be appropriate everywhere. Best of all, at the expense of pillows, you can add those accent additional colors that we mentioned earlier. And in the design of mirrors, it is better to use round atypical shapes, wooden design frames.
This direction is famous for its decorative and aristocratic nature, but it is not so difficult to perform it in a modern building. The main thing is to take into account all the main features of art nouveau, correctly combine practicality and elegance.
